Parker's Box will be opening "WNTRSLN#2," which is the second ‘Winter Salon’ show at Parker’s Box, featuring selected works by gallery artists and special guests. Camel Art Space will be opening, "First Truth" curated by Sara Hubbs and Sara Jones: "The artist who sets out to examine or establish a truth sometimes runs into the bigger truth that came before it: that what one wants to accomplish may be fleeting and may possibly be unaccomplishable, or that what one creates will transform into an unforeseen thing between the time it is conceived and the time it is completed." Camel Art's Project Space will be opening an exhibition of works by Yuka Otani, a new installation inspired by “Hojoki”, an essay by Chomei Kamono: a Japanese 13th century poet who expresses the sense of mujokan(impermanence) during the medieval age of wars and disasters. Front Room Gallery will be presenting an evening of sound performances in conjunction with their current exhibition, "In-Habitat." The performances at Front Room are curated by Jeremy Slater and feature the works of Ian Epps, Gregory Reynolds, Maria Papadomanolaki, ( ), and Rothwell. Figureworks will be presenting "Ellen Emmet Rand / Ellen Emmet Rand" a two-person exhibition by Ellen Emmet Rand and Ellen Emmet Rand, grandmother and granddaughter. The work in this show will combine Ellen Emmet Rands portrait paintings and drawings from the turn of the century with Ellen Emmet Rand’s new abstract collage paintings, which have been inspired from and created directly over a series of her earlier figurative paintings done in the 1990s. Causey Contemporary will be presenting "Volumes," Group Exhibition of Artist Editions. Featured Artists: Carri Skoczek, Melissa Murray, Norman Mooney, Alexis Portilla, Michel Demanche, Gerald Mocarsky, Chuck Kelton, Shelton Walsmith, Nina Carelli, & Kathy Goodell. Like the Spice Gallery will be Opening "Sutured," a mixed-media exhibition featuring the work of Adam Parker Smith, Jude Broughan, Joseph Heidecker, Richard Saja, Robert Raphael, Vadis Turner, and Zoe Sheehan Saldana, Ventana 244 will be presenting "www.after-duccio.com" artist Andrew Huston selects multimedia works by Michelle Ceja, Matthew Eiraldi, George Hofmann, Sherrie Levine, Gerhard Mantz, and Mike Zahn. This Saturday head to Park Slope for an evening of new exhibitions opening. Five Myles will be opening "Time Harvest " an installation by Musa Hixson. Open Source will be presenting works by Evan Robarts AND James Moore, Responding to their environment, Evan Robarts and James Moore will be presenting two site specific works intending to activate the space into a different dimension based on their work’s energies. Both artists work is characterized by formal and conceptual experimentation with material and a desire to transform thoughts into objects. Brooklyn Artist Gym will be opening "The Figure Now" which offers viewers an array of figurative paintings and drawings with imagery ranging from representational to abstract in a variety of media. The extensive scope of style is also shown through the distinct scales, themes, narratives, and techniques that each of the artists employ. The artwork’s contemporary settings distinguish these pieces from historical precedents concerning figurative work.
